Their work
An ancient sacred site of the Karuk and Shasta tribes near Mount Shasta, historically used for healing waters, bathing, and Native American sweat lodge ceremonies since at least 1875. NOTE: Stewart Mineral Springs permanently closed in June 2023 after 147 years of continuous operation, citing rising costs and insurance challenges; the public bathhouse/spa is gone (tubs removed) and there is no more walk-in soaking. The 15-acre property continues operating under new branding as Pneuma Retreat Center (see separate Profiles record), now a private, reservation-only group retreat venue (yoga, tai-chi, qigong, transpersonal psychology trainings) rather than a public hot springs. Located about 12 miles northwest of Mount Shasta City, near Weed, CA.
